NBA X UBI BANCA
In the summer of 2019, Turin was the setting for a significant collaboration between the NBA and UBI Banca, created with the aim of renovating the basketball court in Piazza d’Armi.
The project, financed by UBI Banca, has given the city back a place that is symbolic for sport and the community, culminating in an inauguration event that was attended by the mayor, other institutional figures and the international basketball legend Marco Belinelli.
UNCUT was commissioned to document the entire project, from the preparatory phase of the work through to the final event.
To cover every aspect of this initiative, we adopted a technical and narrative approach that required precision and flexibility. During the weeks leading up to the inauguration, we created over 20 time-lapses, spread over as many days of filming. These time-lapses captured the evolution of the redevelopment work, providing a complete picture of the change to the field, from start to finish.
On the day of the event, our crew had two dedicated video operators who followed every crucial moment of the day. We documented the speeches of the authorities, the reactions of the public and, of course, the charismatic presence of Marco Belinelli.
Working in close contact with a champion of this calibre, in a context full of institutional and sporting events, was a stimulating challenge. Despite the complexity of the event, we managed to work discretely, capturing the spontaneity and energy of the occasion without ever being invasive.
The result was a video that not only celebrated the inauguration of the court, but also told the whole story behind the project, highlighting the commitment of UBI Banca and the prestige of the partnership with the NBA. This work gave the public an authentic and engaging story, conveying the importance of an initiative that has united sport, community and social commitment.
